• Function and Application

1. Controlling Air/Fuel Mixture Intake
The intake valve regulates the flow of the air-fuel mixture (in gasoline engines) or fresh air (in diesel engines) into the combustion chamber. It opens during the intake stroke of the engine cycle, allowing the mixture/air to be drawn into the cylinder as the piston moves downward. 2. Sealing the Combustion Chamber
When closed, the intake valve forms a tight seal against its corresponding intake valve seat (e.g., part 6127-11-1335). This seal is critical to:

Preventing compressed air/fuel mixture from escaping during the compression stroke, which would reduce compression pressure and engine power.
Stopping high-pressure exhaust gases from flowing backward into the intake manifold during the exhaust stroke.
