Comprehensive Maintenance Guide for Komatsu WA800-3 Hi-LIFT Wheel Loader

This guide is designed to help users ensure the proper operation and extend the service life of the Komatsu WA800-3 Hi-LIFT wheel loader through regular and detailed maintenance.

I. Daily Maintenance

Cleaning:

  • Clean the loader daily to remove oil stains, mud, and debris, and keep the equipment tidy.

  • Avoid allowing water or cleaning agents to enter electrical and circuit systems during cleaning to prevent short circuits or other malfunctions.

Lubrication:

  • Perform lubrication of all moving parts and the hydraulic system according to the lubrication chart.

  • Use appropriate lubricating oil and grease to ensure effective lubrication.

Inspection:

  • Before daily operation, inspect key components such as tire pressure, brakes, fluid levels, and electrical systems.

  • Check the engine oil level. If it is below the dipstick mark, refill as needed. If it exceeds the upper mark, identify the cause.

  • Check the fuel level to ensure sufficient fuel supply.

II. Periodic Maintenance

Every 50 Hours:

  • Drain water and sediment from the fuel tank.

  • Check and adjust fan and alternator belt tension.

  • Clean the air conditioner intake air filter element.

Every 100 Hours:

  • Check and adjust tire pressure as needed.

  • Inspect the hydraulic oil tank level to ensure it is within the normal range. Refill if necessary.

Every 250 Hours:

  • Replace the engine oil and oil filter.

  • Check and tighten any loose wheel hub nuts.

  • Lubricate critical points such as the rear axle articulation pin.

Every 500 Hours:

  • Replace the fuel filter element.

  • Inspect and adjust engine valve clearance.

  • Lubricate key components throughout the loader.

Every 1,000 Hours:

  • Replace transmission oil and filter, and clean the coarse filter.

  • Lubricate critical parts such as the central drive shaft splines.

Annually or Every 2,000 Hours:

  • Conduct a comprehensive engine overhaul to restore performance.

  • Replace transmission oil, front and rear axle oil, and hydraulic oil.

  • Inspect and adjust the braking system to ensure reliable performance.

III. Special Maintenance Requirements

Break-in Period for New Loaders:

  • The break-in period for a new loader is approximately 60 hours. During this time, follow all precautions outlined in the operation manual.

  • Alternate between forward and reverse gears evenly during break-in, and do not exceed 70% of the rated load.

Winter Starting and Protection:

  • When ambient temperatures fall below -5°C, preheat the engine before starting.

  • Add antifreeze to the radiator to prevent cracking of the radiator and engine due to freezing.

IV. Precautions

  • Do not use inferior diesel fuel: The diesel must be clean and settled for at least 72 hours. Use fuel grades that meet specified requirements.

  • Keep fluids clean: Transmission and torque converter fluids, as well as hydraulic oil, must be clean to prevent contamination of the system.

  • Temperature control: Only allow full-load operation when coolant temperature exceeds 60°C and engine oil temperature exceeds 50°C. Avoid excessively high engine coolant and oil temperatures during operation.

V. Troubleshooting and Maintenance Records

Troubleshooting:

  • Faults should be diagnosed and addressed promptly to avoid further damage. For common issues, keep spare parts and tools on hand for emergency repairs.

Maintenance Records:

  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including the cause of failure, repair procedures, and parts replaced. These records are valuable for future maintenance and diagnostics.

In conclusion, maintaining the Komatsu WA800-3 Hi-LIFT wheel loader requires careful attention to both daily and scheduled maintenance routines, as well as adherence to special requirements and operational precautions. By following this guide diligently, users can ensure the machine's reliable operation and prolonged service life.
