It restrains harmful twisting oscillation of the crankshaft, prevents resonance, and protects the crankshaft, connecting rods, bearings and other engine components from fatigue fracture and premature damage.

2.Auxiliary function It is usually equipped with a pulley groove to drive engine accessories such as fan, water pump and alternator by the belt. It also marks the timing scale for engine timing inspection.
