Under proper technical conditions, using brush plating technology for on-site repair of hydraulic cylinder rods in construction machinery is an ideal and cost-effective restoration method.
The key prerequisite is to stop the machine in time and avoid continued use of damaged components, as this could lead to mechanical or electrical damage. If operation is stopped promptly, the repair process is relatively straightforward.
Based on our experience with nearly one thousand repaired cylinder rods, the brush plating process has proven to be highly effective. After repair, the components can fully maintain the original equipment condition, achieving significant savings in both repair costs and downtime.
This process provides a reliable and controllable solution especially for expensive imported hydraulic components, offering better performance and service life than aftermarket parts while avoiding compatibility issues.
It should be noted, however, that this method is not suitable for repairing non-genuine or aftermarket parts, as their materials and surface treatments often differ from OEM standards.
In fact, brush plating has long been applied in the industry for large-scale hydraulic equipment cylinder repairs. One of its major advantages is that it enables on-site restoration without disassembling difficult-to-remove components, thereby improving maintenance efficiency and reducing downtime losses.
For example, not long ago, our maintenance team traveled over 1,000 kilometers to Xianghe, Hebei Province, bringing along all necessary equipment and materials. There, we successfully repaired two hydraulic cylinder rods, each 9 meters long and 280 mm in diameter, used in a wood-processing machine. These cylinders were extremely difficult to disassemble, and the equipment had been forced to stop production. Through on-site brush plating repair, the cylinders were restored to full working condition, achieving excellent surface quality and precision fit — the results were very satisfying.
